The short version
Do not break the law with this. Do not attack it. Do not use it to send people things they did not ask for. Do not use the analytics to follow individuals around. Everything below is that, said precisely enough to act on.
This page is part of the Terms of Service and applies to you, to anybody you let use your account, and to the websites you build with it.
What you may not do
- Break the law of Switzerland, or of any country where your website is available, or use the service to help somebody else do so.
- Try to reach data belonging to another account, probe for a way to, or test our security without written permission. Tell us what you find instead.
- Work around a rate limit, an allowance or a plan limit, including by spreading the same work across several accounts.
- Interfere with the service for anybody else: flooding it, running a denial of service attack, or deliberately generating load with no purpose.
- Resell the platform as though it were your own, or run it as a service for other businesses to sign up to. Running websites on your own account is what this is for, whether they are yours or somebody has asked you to run theirs.
- Share a secret API key publicly, embed one in a browser or a mobile application, or hand your account to somebody else to use as their own.
- Scrape the service, or use it to build a competing product from what you learn about its internals.
What you may not store or serve
- Anything sexual involving children, in any form. This is the one thing on this page reported rather than only removed.
- Content that incites violence, terrorism or hatred against people for who they are.
- Content that infringes somebody else's copyright, trade mark or other rights.
- Malware, phishing pages, or anything designed to deceive somebody into handing over credentials or money.
- Personal data you have no lawful basis to hold, and special category data such as health or biometric records unless you have a proper basis and have told the people concerned.
- Payment card numbers, passwords or similar secrets typed into a content or notes field.
We do not monitor your content and we have no general obligation to. We act on what is reported to us and on what we happen to notice.
Email you send through us
The platform sends booking confirmations and cancellations to your customers. That is transactional email: it goes to somebody about a thing they just did.
It is not a marketing channel. Do not use it for newsletters, promotions or anything sent to a list, and do not put marketing into the body of a confirmation.
The API, and what fair use means
The monthly allowance is what you bought and you can use all of it. The burst limits alongside it are the same on every plan, and fair use means an integration that stays inside them.
Your visitors and your customers
Do not use the measurement to follow an individual. In particular, do not put a name, an email address, an account number or any other identifier into an event name, a page path or a utm tag in order to attach a person to their browsing.
Do not report events from your own server that you have made up, or assert an address and a user agent that were not really the visitor's.
Tell your visitors and customers what you are doing with their data. The Privacy Notice sets out exactly what the measurement does and does not collect, so you can say so accurately in your own notice.
Reporting illegal content
Anybody can tell us that content on a website hosted through this platform is unlawful. You do not need an account.
Write to support@backendfree.com and include:
- The exact web address of the content, precise enough for us to find it.
- Why you believe it is unlawful, in your own words.
- Your name and email address, unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material or certain other offences against a person, where you may report anonymously.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that what you have said is accurate and complete.
We confirm we received it, look at it without undue delay, and decide in a way that is not arbitrary: we consider what was reported, what the content actually is, and the rights on both sides, including freedom of expression. We may remove the content, disable access to it, restrict the account, or decide it is lawful and do nothing.
We tell you what we decided and why, including the legal or contractual ground and whether an automated tool was used, which for us means it was not. We also tell the person whose website it is that a notice was received and what we did about it, so they can respond.
If you think we got it wrong, whether you reported the content or published it, reply and say so. We look again, and a person rather than a rule makes the second decision. You do not lose any right to go to court, or to your own authority, by using this route. Orders from an authority to act against illegal content, or to provide information, should also be sent to support@backendfree.com and we will confirm receipt and act on them.
What happens if you break this
Usually we email you and ask you to fix it, and that is the end of it. If it is serious, ongoing, or putting other people at risk, we may remove the content, suspend the website or suspend the account first and tell you immediately afterwards.
Repeated or deliberate breaches end the agreement. We do not refund a period already paid for in that case. Where the law requires us to report something to an authority, we do.
